20 Armed Men Attack Church Choir in Juba and Leave Members Naked

A bus carrying members of the church choir “Hymns Group” from St. Michael’s Church, affiliated with St. Joseph’s Parish in the Diocese of Juba, was subjected to an armed robbery while returning from Liria after participating in the St. Joseph the Worker celebrations on May 1.

According to information published on the official page of St. Joseph’s Parish, the group—consisting of 14 members of St. Michael’s Church choir—was intercepted by more than 20 armed men. The attackers stopped the bus, seized all their belongings, assaulted them physically, and left the male members without clothes.

Witnesses reported that the armed men fled the scene after the attack, fearing the approach of another vehicle.

Despite the severity of the incident, all choir members survived and safely reached the church premises, where they were received by Father James Ladu, who offered them his blessing.

This incident reflects the security challenges faced by civilians in some areas, while the group expressed gratitude to God for their survival despite the difficult circumstances.
