Torkorfeh Women In Development Annual Share-Out – Phase Two:

The Torkorfeh Women In Development group, based in Fiama Chiefdom, Kono District, has successfully carried out the second phase of their annual share-out celebration and thanksgiving. This symbolic event marks the distribution of benefits from the group’s collective savings, which have been contributed since last year.
As part of the celebration, the group purchased the following household items to be shared among members:
1. 2 rubber chairs.
2. 1 set of Coolman containers for food preservation.
3. 1 large basin (baff) for laundry.
4. 1 quality set of rubber dishes.
5. 1 set of cooking pans.
6. 2 small rubber containers for domestic cooking use.
The total amount spent on the items was Le 32,780.
This occasion was graced by representatives from Women In Development Sierra Leone (WIND-SL), the organization’s district secretariat, NMJD staff, local authorities of Fiama Chiefdom, as well as other invited women's groups in Fiama, members of the press, and various stakeholders.
Women In Development Sierra Leone (WIND-SL) is a women-focused organization committed to empowering women and fostering self-reliance through training, capacity building, savings schemes, agriculture, business support, loan resolution, leadership, and advocacy initiatives.
Special thanks was directed to the district/National coordinator madam Kumba Charles Alie and the right Hon. Rebecca Yei Sam for such an initiative.

"Women in Development Sierra Leone" (WIND-SL):
Mechanical Cultivation Of Hundred (100) Hectares Of Land Of Rice:
"Women in Development Sierra Leone (WIND-SL)" is a non-governmental organization that operates in the Kono and Falaba Districts of Sierra Leone.
Recently, WIND-SL has become a beneficiary of the "FEED SALONE PROJECT" which aims to boost agricultural productivity and reduce the country's dependence on food imports. As part of this project, the government will cultivate a hundred (100) hectares of land of Rice using mechanical methods.
The farm sites for this cultivation are in Tayandu Village, located in the Fiama Section of Fiama Chiefdom, and in Kondeya Sumungefeh in Sandor Chiefdom, Kono District. This initiative is expected to increase local Rice production, reduce hunger, and create job opportunities for women and men while building a resilient food system.
