NMDHR Rolls Out Poster Campaign in Schools in Port Loko District

The Network Movement for Democracy and Human Rights (NMDHR) has continued the pasting of posters in schools and learning institutions across Port Loko District as part of its ongoing public sensitization drive ahead of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV)–Mass Awareness Campaign (MAC) scheduled for November 17th-23rd 2025.

The exercise, which targets both primary and secondary schools and learning institutions aims to raise awareness among pupils, teachers, and parents about the importance of the HPV vaccine in protecting young girls from cervical cancer. The posters contain vital messages encouraging vaccination for girls aged 11-18 years, surrounding the campaign.

According to NMDHR officials, the poster pasting is part of the organization’s broader community engagement strategy to ensure that accurate information reaches every corner of society, especially within school environments where many eligible girls can be reached directly.

Speaking on the activity, NMDHR’s Programs Director, Nabieu Kamara emphasized that the goal is to ensure that communities—especially parents and girls—understand that the HPV vaccine is safe, free, and essential for protecting the future of our daughters. He added that the school sensitization and poster campaign will help reinforce messages from the Ministry of Health and its partners ahead of the vaccination week.

The HPV-MAC Campaign, slated for 17th to 23rd November 2025, is part of a nationwide effort to vaccinate girls aged 11 to 18 years against cervical cancer, a leading cause of female mortality in Sierra Leone.

Through initiatives like these, NMDHR continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering communities with information, supporting public health programs, and advancing the right to health for all with support from GAVI, the vaccine alliance.
