When Edmund Wong first picked up a camera at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, he didn’t expect it to take him all the way to the World Cup.

The 2016 Mass Communication graduate was introduced to photography through a module at NP. It wasn’t something he immediately excelled in, but it stayed with him. After National Service, as he figured out his next steps, he returned to the camera.

What began with photographing buildings and street life gradually evolved into a career in sports photography. Today, Edmund is a FIFA World Cup-accredited photographer working on the global stage. Most recently, he captured Cristiano Ronaldo’s historic World Cup goal, with the image shared on the footballer’s Instagram and seen by millions worldwide.

Looking back, Edmund credits NP with shaping how he sees and tells stories. The course trained him to approach subjects from different perspectives, something that continues to inform his work today. For him, a strong sports photograph goes beyond timing.

“What makes my photos stand out is emotion – letting my audience feel what happened as closely as possible when they look at the photo,” he shared.

Jing Long’s passion in biomedical engineering grew through hands-on projects at ITE, where he developed an Arduino-based heart rate monitor and a rehabilitation device to enhance grip strength and wrist movement.
During his EAE interview, he spoke about these projects with confidence, using them to show his interest in biomedical engineering and aptitude for hands-on problem-solving.
The current Year 2 student in NP’s Diploma in Biomedical Engineering is now building on these skills by taking on more complex challenges.
📆 EAE for ITE students runs till 18 June. Learn all about EAE 👉🏻 np.edu.sg/eae
