The Final Bucket List... For Now

On May 23, 2026, Robert "Bob" Hardy — The Walker Runner — completed what may be his final racing bucket list item for the foreseeable future: finishing the Ottawa Race Weekend 5K in 52:29.

The journey to that finish line began long before Parkinson Canada disease and recent stroke events. It included leukemia and a bone marrow transplant, a total hip replacement, kidney tumours, blood clots requiring multiple surgeries, colon cancer, and countless other challenges. Along the way came a black belt in jiu-jitsu, 35,000 km of bicycle racing, more than 12,000 km of walker racing, a 100-km ultra marathon, and many finish lines that at times seemed impossible.

In recent years, the challenges have become greater. A collapse during the St. Lawrence Marathon, a Parkinson's diagnosis, cancelled competitions, missed opportunities, and the disappointment of watching others compete in events he had trained for. Yet somehow, the journey continued.

The completion of the Ottawa Race Weekend 5K, just days after two stroke events and shortly after receiving the Terry Fox Award as Athlete of the Year at the Cornwall Lions Club Sports Awards Banquet, feels like a fitting place to pause and reflect.

For now, it is time to take a break from racing.

It is time to focus on health, recovery, family, and the simple goal of taking care of oneself. Time and health permitting, Bob hopes to continue staying active, maintaining his fitness, and enjoying the benefits that movement has brought him throughout his life.

The racing may be on pause, but the journey continues.

After all, at 75 years old, there may still be a few bucket list items left to complete.

Johan Olofsson, first from left, is the logistics manager at Trionic. Johan is also responsible for content and the postings on social media.

Johan Kuikka, at the center, is Trionic´s CEO and one of two co-founders of the company. Johan is the one responsible for our online content, our websites and our marketing.

Stefan Kindberg, on the far right, is the company´s chairman and the second off two co-founders. Stefan is our product manager and responsible for product development.

Johan O, Johan K. and Stefan together work with sales and customer support. Together we help each other out in order to provide you with the best possible customer support .
