📢 Important update for Ukrainians in the EU!
Last week, the EU decided to extend temporary protection until March 2027 for people fleeing the war in Ukraine 🇺🇦

But more than that - the European Union now recommends that countries (like Sweden!) help people switch to more permanent residence permits before 2027. This could mean a work permit, study permit, family-based permit - depending on your situation.

The EU also says:
▪️Governments should support people who don’t meet all the standard rules
▪️ Families with school-age kids should be allowed to stay until the school year ends

At Help in Change, we support this step and ask the Swedish government to:
✔️Allow Ukrainians to apply for new permits already now
✔️ Remove the rule that says you must leave Sweden to apply

We raised this issue directly with Swedish Minister for Migration Johan Forssell earlier this year, and we sincerely hope these voices were heard.

A year of impact, heart, and community

Earlier this week, we held the annual meeting of Help in Change — and we’re filled with gratitude and hope.

To our 2024 board: thank you for your dedication, time, and the heart you’ve put into every decision and action. You’ve laid a strong foundation.
