Marble Raft

as fuel the raft stays afloat despite being made of marble. Instead of focusing on the external world we turn our gaze inwards, building stories of sound with layers upon layers enfolding the listener in thin veils of protection from reality. Some inspiration comes from oddities such as old maps, stories of exploration and exotic flowers. Olle and Gabrielle first met at an afterparty a late summer night in Stockholm about ten or so years ago. Marble Raft was crafted a few years later out of a mutual love for the etheral and the naive. Parallell with Marble Raft, Gabrielle is the lead singer and songwriter in the Gothenburg-based shoegaze band IBEN and Olle has previously been a member and songwriter in the Stockholm-based pop bands Nanook of the North and Pineforest Crunch. For those fond of music references, Marble Raft has been inspired by bands such as Alvvays, Magnetic Fields, Cocteau Twins and Chairlift. The debut album "Geography A" has a theme that revolves around two precocious children who build a raft, steal horses from their riding school, pack their bags and set off on a journey of discovery. The album is carved out of a rock-solid love of pure pop melodies.
