Sudanese Human Rights Initiative (SHRI) is a nongovernmental Sudanese organization founded by Sudanese lawyers in 2008, in response to human rights violations committed by the state. SHRI was established with the goal to defend the rights of Sudanese people and to build the capacities of Sudanese civil society to do the same. SHRI now has now more than 500 members, 50 volunteers inside and outside Sudan and three networks for lawyers, human rights defenders and journalists

SHRI Commemorates International Human Rights Day, Calls for Accountability in Sudan

On International Human Rights Day, the Sudanese Human Rights Initiative (SHRI) emphasizes the urgent need for freedom, equality, and justice for all in Sudan, echoing this year’s OHCHR theme. Amid ongoing conflict in Darfur, Khartoum, Kordofan, and other regions, civilians continue to face violence, displacement, arbitrary detention, and other grave human rights abuses.
SHRI stresses that lasting peace and stability in Sudan require full accountability for violations, robust protection of civilians, and the meaningful participation of women, youth, and marginalized communities in decision-making. The organization also highlights the courage of Sudanese activists, journalists, and community leaders who continue to speak out despite severe risks.
SHRI calls on Sudanese authorities and the international community to uphold human rights, ensure justice for victims, and build a future where all Sudanese can live freely, safely, and with dignity
المبادرة السودانية لحقوق الإنسان تُحيي اليوم الدولي لحقوق الإنسان وتدعو إلى المساءلة وعدم الافلات من العقاب في السودان

في اليوم الدولي لحقوق الإنسان، تؤكد المبادرة السودانية لحقوق الإنسان (SHRI) على الحاجة المُلِحّة للحرية والمساواة والعدالة للجميع في السودان، انسجامًا مع شعار المفوضية السامية لحقوق الإنسان لهذا العام. وفي ظل استمرار النزاع في دارفور والخرطوم وكردفان وغيرها من المناطق، لا يزال المدنيون يواجهون العنف والنزوح والاعتقال التعسفي وانتهاكات جسيمة أخرى لحقوق الإنسان.
وتشدد المبادرة على أن السلام والاستقرار الدائمين في السودان يتطلبان المساءلة الكاملة عن الانتهاكات، وحماية قوية للمدنيين، ومشاركة حقيقية للنساء والشباب والمجتمعات المهمشة في صنع القرار. كما تبرز شجاعة النشطاء والصحفيين وقادة المجتمعات السودانيين الذين يواصلون رفع أصواتهم رغم المخاطر الجسيمة.
وتدعو المبادرة السودانيه لحقوق الإنسان السلطات السودانية والمجتمع الدولي إلى احترام حقوق الإنسان، وضمان العدالة للضحايا، وبناء مستقبل يستطيع فيه جميع السودانيين العيش بحرية وأمان وكرامة

يرحل اليوم محمد محمود “حسكا”؛ ابن أم درمان الأهلية، وصاحب الأركان الفكرية التي كان فيها السودان المتنوع حاضرًا في كل خطاباته، إلى أن أصبح مذيعًا لامعًا ظلّ الوطن بتعدده راسخًا في مخيلته وروحه.
تنعيه المبادرة السودانية لحقوق الإنسان؛ فقد كان من أوائل من أسّسوا معنا شبكة إعلامية لتعزيز الحريات الدينية في السودان، وظلّ سؤال الوطن، والتنوع، والمواطنة العادلة حاضرًا في فكره وضميره حتى آخر أيامه.
نسأل الله أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته، ويسكنه فسيح جناته، ويُلهم أسرته وزملاءه ومحبيه الصبر والسلوان.
