Best Family Rwanda – Nyarugunga Branch joined the local leaders of Nyarugunga Sector, Kamashashi Cell, and all local residents in the monthly community work program (UMUGANDA).

We sincerely thank the children of Best Family Rwanda – Nyarugunga for your dedication, active participation, hard work, enthusiasm, and willingness to contribute to this activity. Local leaders and community members highly appreciated the children of BFR and commended them as the kind of youth that Rwanda aspires to have.

UMUGANDA is a national community service program that brings citizens together to work on activities that benefit both the country and local communities. The word Umuganda means coming together for a common purpose in order to achieve a specific goal or result.

In Rwanda, Community Umuganda is held on the last Saturday of every month, usually between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. During these hours, citizens temporarily suspend their regular activities and participate in community development projects within their local areas.

Objectives of Community Umuganda :
• To promote cleanliness and sanitation in residential areas.
• To protect the environment and support tree-planting initiatives.
• To construct and rehabilitate infrastructure such as roads, schools, and health centers.
• To assist vulnerable families by building or renovating their homes.
• To strengthen unity, cooperation, and resilience among citizens.

Importance of Community Umuganda :
• It contributes to the development of communities and the nation as a whole.
• It helps citizens solve local challenges through collective action.
• It reflects the Rwandan culture of mutual support and working together.
• It plays a significant role in maintaining Rwanda’s cleanliness and enhancing the country’s beauty.

The General Meeting of the Best Family Rwanda Leadership convened on 27/05/2026, and the minutes of this meeting were certified by a Notary.

This meeting discussed many different matters, all aimed at building and developing the BFR Organization, especially with a focus on the children supported by the organization and their families. Particular emphasis was also placed on strengthening cooperation between BFR and government institutions, especially local government entities wherever BFR operates.

During this meeting, it was approved that all the programs previously run by BFR would be consolidated into only two (2) programs:

1. K***A PROGRAM – dedicated to supporting and caring for all BFR children.

2. ITARA PROGRAM – dedicated to supporting the parents of the children with the goal of strengthening and building family capacity.

• K***A PROGRAM will continue supporting children from Nursery school up to the completion of High School. The children will continue to receive support through the six pillars of BFR, namely: Education, Social Welfare, Health Care, Talent Detection and Development, Civic Responsibilities, and Discipleship.

• ITARA PROGRAM combine all the other programs that BFR previously had for parents and families, namely: the Intervention Program, Itara Program, Business Loan Program, and Saving Groups Program. All these programs will now become one unified program called ITARA PROGRAM.

We are pleased to welcome Mr. RWAGASORE Jean Claude, who has once again been appointed as the General Director of Best Family Rwanda Organization, in addition to his existing responsibilities as the BFR Legal Representative.

These responsibilities as BFR General Director / Country Director are not new to him, as he previously served in this position until 2019.

We wish him peace and success in these responsibilities, and may God continue to grant him wisdom and good vision.
