DuHope
Thousands of Rwandan women are trapped in survival sex work because of generational poverty. DuHope provides counseling, spiritual development, and vocational training so women can break free from the cycle of poverty, heal from trauma, and live empowered lives.

Most people think hope is a feeling. It isn't.
Hope is the belief that the future can be better than the past, and that you have a role in making it better.
That second part is what makes it powerful. And for women who have been trapped in survival s*x work by poverty and circumstances beyond their control, helping them reclaim that belief -- that they have a role, that their future is not written yet -- is the entire foundation of what we do at DuHope Rwanda.
We wrote a free 5-day devotional called the Hope Journal. It unpacks what hope actually is, why its absence matters, and what it looks like to build it back.

Thousands of Rwandan women are trapped in survival s*x work not because they chose it, but because they ran out of options. They can't read or write. They have children to feed. And they can't see another way.
At DuHope Rwanda, we believe women should not have to sell their bodies to feed their families. So we find them, earn their trust, walk them through trauma counseling, teach them to read and write, and train them as artisans making jewelry.
The Hope Journal is a free 5-day devotional about hope: what it is, why it matters, and what happens when someone finally gets it back.

Happy Liberation Day, Rwanda!
Today, we celebrate Rwanda's remarkable journey of resilience, courage, and hope.
As President Paul Kagame has often reminded us, liberation is not only about remembering where we came from; it is also about taking responsibility for the future we build together. It is a call to protect the progress we've made and continue creating opportunities for generations to come.
At DuHope, we see that spirit every day. Through meaningful work, skills training, and community, women are rebuilding their lives with dignity, confidence, and hope. Their stories remind us that lasting transformation begins when people are given the opportunity to thrive.
As we celebrate Kwibohora, we honor Rwanda's journey and everyone working to build a future where hope continues to grow.
Happy Liberation Day from all of us at DuHope.❤️

Eleven years ago, Juliette and Victoria walked through DuHope's doors for the very first time. TODAY, they're walking through the doors of their own restaurant!
Since 2015, they've been through skills training, language learning, emotional counseling, and grown their confidence alongside our artisan community. Somewhere along the way, a new dream took shape: not jewelry, but food. After completing DuHope's food service training in 2025, they're opening a moto bar style restaurant just blocks from the DuHope workshop, serving local dishes right in our neighborhood.
Their first customers? Our own artisans and staff, who'll now get a hot lunch made by two women they've trained alongside for a decade!
This is what we mean when we talk about transformation: not a single moment, but a decade of small steps that built toward something entirely their own.
And it doesn't stop here. Juliette and Victoria are already imagining how their restaurant could open doors for other women, the same way DuHope opened doors for them.
Today is opening day. Stay tuned! We'll be sharing menu items soon.

Happy Independence Day, Rwanda!
Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and unity that continue to shape our nation's story.
At DuHope, we see the spirit of Rwanda every day through the incredible women who are rebuilding their lives with courage, learning new skills, and creating brighter futures for themselves and their families. Their journeys remind us that true independence is also found in opportunity, dignity, and hope.
As we honor Rwanda's past and celebrate how far we've come, we also look toward a future where every woman has the chance to thrive.
Happy Independence Day from all of us at DuHope! ❤️
