On the morning of September 11, 2001, Stanley Praimnath was working on the 81st floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center when he saw an American Airlines plane speeding straight toward the building.
In an instant, he dropped beneath his desk, praying, just as the jet smashed into the floors above his office. The impact ripped open the wall behind him, sucking nearly everything out of the room—everything except his desk, which shielded him from the flames and falling debris.
Trapped and desperate, Stanley cried out for help. His calls were answered by Brian Clark, another survivor who fought his way through the wreckage to reach him. Together, the two men descended the stairwell and escaped only minutes before the tower collapsed.
Stanley later described his survival as an act of divine intervention and regards Brian as a lifelong brother. In the years after, he embraced pastoral ministry and motivational speaking, carrying forward both his testimony of faith and the enduring bond forged in that moment of tragedy.
