Less effort - less spending!

Merkator Holding LLC, which specializes in producing, selling, servicing, processing and marketing of utility, road, and airfield equipment, has developed a unique onboard weighing system for heavyweight vehicles. Now, all information about payload is available online: it will save effort in prevention of theft and unlawful transportation. Tests have shown that computer-aided weighing is accurate within one kilo! Similar imported systems are no match to this one since they are accurate only within 500kg.

Merkator Holding LLC has been a leader of the road and utility equipment segment for 20 years, and currently holds 42% share of the Russian market of multipurpose road maintenance vehicles.

It’s no surprise that the company is actively exporting its produce abroad, as Moscow-produced utility vehicles could be spotted on the streets of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.

Is it easy to do hi-tech business in Russia? It’s a challenge, but an interesting one – that is an impression one gets from talking to Mikhail Pavlyuk, director of ICC Milandr.

ICC Milandr is a seasoned player on the Russian market of microelectronics. Founded in 1993, the company has a long history, a good name and reputation. It started out as a microenterprise with 10 employees and evolved into a 650-strong production company.

Milandr is standing firm and feeling confident about the future. Judge for yourself: innovative power meters are doing well on the market – more than 200,000 meters have been sold in 2021 alone. The company has developed Infosphere software and introduced it on the market – it is used for remote data collection and analysis in industrial and utilities sector.

Milandr products are demanded not only on the domestic market but also abroad. Currently the company is exporting its products to the CIS countries.

Microcircuits, chips and software markets are highly competitive environments of global scale, which possess gigantic export potential. This is particularly important in the context of the current product deficit, which the world and many microelectronics-dependent industries have faced.

We tried to joke that microchips go well with microfish, but ICC Milandr people just shrugged it off – there is nothing fishy about their chips.

From ballet to entrepreneurship: the path is built!

Alexandra Gudimova, founder of Bionova Organic food brand, took this journey. She had to abandon ballet at age 17 due to a serious injury and to look for a new goal. She started off by writing her thesis at the HSE: Alexandra developed a business plan for a startup producing organic granola, and the project proved rather viable.

Currently Bionova is offering over 200 products, adding 15-20 positions every year, whilst annual revenue amounts to RUB 1.1 billion. In addition, the company is successfully exporting to 14 countries. According to Alexandra, her new business goal for the next three or four years is to reach RUB 5-6 billion in revenue with a profit margin of 10%.

According to the Russian National Organic Union, Moscow and St.-Petersburg account for 65%-70% of organic produce sales, 70% of which is the share of the Russian Capital.

Ask your questions about the organic industry in the comment section below - we will definitely answer all of them!
