📌Purpose of World Day for Safety and Health at Work
Safe Day aims to:
✅Promote prevention of occupational accidents and diseases worldwide
✅Encourage governments, employers, and workers to take responsibility for workplace safety
✅Highlight emerging risks (such as new technologies, climate-related hazards, or psychosocial stress)
✅Commemorate victims of work-related incidents with dignity and respect

📜Origins of Safe Day (28 April)
-Roots in Workers’ Memorial Day
-The observance began as Workers’ Memorial Day, first marked by trade union movements in 1996.
-The original purpose was to remember workers who lost their lives or suffered injuries and illnesses due to unsafe working conditions.
-The date 28 April was chosen symbolically to honor victims while also reinforcing the need for prevention.
🤝Adoption by the International Labour Organization (ILO)
-In 2003, the International Labour Organization (ILO) officially established World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April.
-The ILO expanded the focus from remembrance to active promotion of workplace safety and health, emphasizing prevention, education, and policy.
