โจDay 2 at PMI Global Summit Lisbon and the main theme: ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ญ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐.
Opening session started with Dr Nelson Ogunshakin FREng OBE, talking about giga projects: multi-billion euro initiatives, running over years, with massive economic and social impact, like building the Hong Kong International Airport.
Form where comes the biggest risk?
Not just the technical sideโฆ but the ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐ฅ๐๐ฒ๐๐ซ. Governance changes, new agendas come in, priorities shift, but the project must keep moving.
Another strong discussion, with Kathleen Walch and Hatim ZINE EL ABIDINE , PMPยฎ, PMI-PBAยฎ, touched on something very real:
๐ how do we deal with the wave of new technologies and the fear around AI?
Itโs normal. LLMs have been around for a while, but now theyโre accessible to everyone. And with accessibility comes both opportunityโฆ and uncertainty.
A few reflections from this discussion:
๐น Continuous learning is not optional, itโs how these projects survive over time
๐น Thereโs constant business FOMO and technology FOMO, try to make your own balance what to learn
๐น Leave room to reassess and adjust, intentionally
๐น Be clear on which initiatives truly bring value
๐น Technology adoption starts at an individual level before it scales
And againโฆ a recurring theme: ๐๐๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ with Giles Lindsay (CITP FIAP FBCS FCMI).
Even with Agile frameworks in place, many organizations are not ready to sustain true agility.
Delays in decision-making slow everything down, and when transformation struggles, itโs often ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐๐๐ฆ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ.
Maybe the real question is not: โCan teams deliver?โ
But rather: โCan the organization decide fast enough to enable them?โ
