We – the AIMultimediaLab, coordinated by Prof. Bogdan Ionescu – are pleased to be entrusted with the organization of the 28th CLEF Conference and Labs of the Evaluation Forum, with Universitatea POLITEHNICA din București, September 14-17, 2027, Bucharest, Romania.
The CLEF Initiative promotes , , and of information access systems with an emphasis on and information with various levels of structure, and is structured in two main parts:
• Evaluation Labs: laboratories to conduct evaluation of information access systems and workshops to discuss and pilot innovative evaluation activities.
• A Peer-reviewed Conference on a broad range of issues, including investigation continuing the activities of the Evaluation Labs, experiments using multilingual and multimodal data; in particular, but not only, data resulting from CLEF activities; and research in evaluation methodologies and challenges.
CLEF publishes two series of peer-reviewed papers:
• The conference proceedings, containing conference papers, condensed lab overviews, and best of labs, under the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.
• The working notes, containing extended lab overviews and lab participant papers, under the CEUR Workshop Proceedings (CEUR-WS.org) series.
According to Google Scholar Metrics, CLEF is among the top 20 venues for the ""Databases and Information Systems"" area. Also, a search for articles which include the conference returns no less than 26,500 results, showing the very high impact of these series, including the major impact of benchmarks for shaping the field.

We are happy to kickstart the 5G Scalable Hubs for Accessible and Resilient Education project co-funded by the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility , CEF-DIG-2024-5GLSP, CEF-DIG-2024-5GLSP-SMARTCOM-WORKS, #101241240 for the 2026 – 2028 period.
The project reunites a strong consortium spread over 4 countries – Ireland, Czech Republic, Romania, and Italy – and is led by Atlantic Technological University, with partners Vodafone Ireland, Vodafone CZ (Czech Republic), Brno University of Technology, Vodafone Romania, Universitatea Tehnica din Cluj-Napoca, Universitatea POLITEHNICA din București (AIMultimediaLab, CAMPUS Research Institute), FifthIngenium, and ADAPTA studio.
represents a , leap in and technology across Europe, focusing on accelerating the of 5G technologies by creating scalable, interconnected digital ecosystems, namely deploying 5G Standalone Mobile Private Networks (MPNs) at university campuses, enabling hybrid and immersive learning environments (XR-based), strengthening cross-border academic collaboration, advancing AI, IoT, and cybersecurity research via 5G, and developing replicable large-scale pilots across Europe.
The project delivers 7 large-scale , each demonstrating real-world applications of 5G in education, research, and industry, namely: hybrid XR learning, XR 5G Fab Labs, 3D volumetric streaming, 5G-enabled AR for critical operations, post-quantum cybersecurity in 5G, 5G sensing networks, and AI-augmented academic networks.
