Formed in 2023, this contemporary jazz trio from Bucharest, Romania, has already released three albums and is considered one of the most distinctive voices on the Eastern European jazz scene. Listen closely to their 2024 LP Timelines and you immediately get the hype. The album is a reflection on memory, history and transformation that incorporates folk motifs from eight former communist countries, reinterpreted to fit the context of modern European jazz. Driven by artistic curiosity and respect to cultural diversity, Amphitrio have shaped their creative language through years of experimenting with different genres, inviting the audience on an exploration of different narratives on what freedom might sound like. A lot more than an abstract slogan, they actually named their 2024 international tour What Freedom Sounds Like, distilling the spirit of their artistic mission in this one simple phrase.

“What Freedom Looks Like” is coming to YouTube on April 30❣️

Two years ago we took on the challenge of organizing our first international tour with over 20 concerts across 8 European countries, all DIY, everything learned on the way, with the help of many friends who supported us throughout the journey.

This documentary follows us on tour; the chaos, the music, the people, the road, and everything that shaped us along the way. 💫 Mark your calendars and hit the notification button!

And since April 30 is a full Amphitrio day, we’ll see you that same evening at ARCUB for our concert on International Jazz Day.

April 30. “What Freedom Looks Like” on YT
