Our inaugural winners, Blue Ventures, The Farmer Tantoh Foundation, Wuasikamas Ëconeêrã, and Blooming World International, are leveraging traditional knowledge and cultural heritage to tackle key challenges, from water and food security to protecting marine and coastal ecosystems, as well as promoting peace and economic growth. في يوم الأرض، نسلّط الضوء على جائزة إرثنا، ونستعرض كيف يمكن للمعرفة التقليدية والموروث الثقافي، المتوارث عبر الأجيال، أن يسهما في مواجهة تحديات الاستدامة المعاصرة.

حيث يعمل الفائزون في دورتنا الافتتاحية Blue Ventures، وThe Farmer Tantoh Foundation، وWuasikamas Ëconeêrã، وBlooming World Internationalعلى توظيف هذه المعرفة لمعالجة تحديات متنوعة، من الأمن المائي والغذائي إلى حماية النظم البيئية البحرية والساحلية، إضافةً إلى دعم السلام والنمو الاقتصادي.

This week, Earthna and the UN-Habitat Regional Office for Arab States signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Arab Ministerial Forum on Housing and Urban Development in Doha, establishing a strategic partnership to address sustainability challenges facing hot and arid regions. 
 
The agreement covers collaboration across several key priorities, including mangrove restoration, food security, air quality, and urban sustainability. Activities will include developing best-practice guides, thematic knowledge hubs, and co-developed research projects. It also contains provisions for UN-Habitat’s participation in the Arid Cities Network (ACN), Earthna’s global platform dedicated to addressing the unique sustainability and resilience needs of cities in hot and dry environments.
 
‎شهد هذا الأسبوع توقيع مذكرة تفاهم بين مركز “إرثنا” والمكتب الإقليمي لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للمستوطنات البشرية للدول العربية، وذلك على هامش المنتدى الوزاري العربي للإسكان والتنمية الحضرية المستدامة الذي عُقد في الدوحة. وتهدف المذكرة إلى إرساء شراكة استراتيجية لمعالجة تحديات الاستدامة التي تواجه المناطق الحارة والجافة

وتنص الاتفاقية على التعاون في عدد من الأولويات المحورية، من بينها استعادة غابات القرم (المانغروف)، وتعزيز الأمن الغذائي، وتحسين جودة الهواء، ودعم الاستدامة الحضرية. ويشمل ذلك إعداد أدلة لأفضل الممارسات، وإنشاء منصات معرفية متخصصة، وتطوير مشاريع بحثية مشتركة. كما تتضمن المذكرة مشاركة برنامج الأمم المتحدة للمستوطنات البشرية في شبكة المدن القاحلة، وهي المنصة العالمية التي أطلقها مركز “إرثنا” لتلبية احتياجات المدن الواقعة في البيئات الحارة والجافة في مجالي الاستدامة وبناء القدرة على الصمود

On December 11, Earthna proudly hosted a special gathering to celebrate and thank the 350+ Qatar Sustainability Week 2025 partners who made this year’s national campaign held in collaboration with from Nov 1-8 a resounding success. By delivering 740+ impactful events, their passion, leadership, and commitment strengthened the QSW movement and transformed awareness into lasting action, paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient future for Qatar.

في 11 ديسمبر، استضاف إرثنا لقاءً خاصاً لتكريم وشكر أكثر من 350 شريكا لأسبوع قطر للاستدامة 2025، الذين أسهموا في إنجاح الحملة الوطنية التي أُقيمت خلال الفترة من 1 إلى 8 نوفمبر بالتعاون مع وزارة البيئة والتغير المناخي. وقام هؤلاء الشركاء بتنفيذ أكثر من 740 فعالية مؤثرة، عزز شغفهم وقيادتهم والتزامهم نجاح أسبوع قطر للاستدامة، وحوّلوا الوعي إلى عمل مستدام، ممهدين الطريق نحو مستقبل أكثر استدامة لدولة قطر.

Dr. Mona Al-Kuwari, Editor and Publication Manager at Qatar Foundation’s Earthna, participated as a speaker in the Doha Forum session “Justice in Action: Global & Regional Governance Strategies,” held in partnership with the Stimson Center and the Global Institute for Strategic Research. The session convened senior international leaders and governance experts to examine pathways for advancing justice-driven policy and addressing inequities that challenge global stability. Moderated by Julian Mueller-Kaler of the The Stimson Center, the discussion explored inclusive and effective governance approaches in today’s complex global landscape.

Dr. Mona highlighted Earthna’s work on the Islamic Sustainability Framework (ISF), an initiative developed in collaboration with academic and institutional partners. She emphasized the importance of integrating Islamic ethical principles into sustainability and governance models to ensure culturally grounded, equitable, and justice-oriented policy solutions.

جمعت الجلسة عدداً من القادة الدوليين والخبراء في مجال الحوكمة لبحث سبل تعزيز السياسات الداعمة للعدالة ومعالجة أوجه عدم المساواة التي تهدد الاستقرار العالمي. وأدار الجلسة يوليان مولر-كالر من مركز ستيمسون، حيث تناول النقاش أساليب الحوكمة الشاملة والفعّالة في ظل المشهد العالمي المعقّد اليوم

وسلّطت الدكتورة منى الضوء على عمل «إرثنا» في إطار الاستدامة الإسلامي (ISF)، وهو مبادرة طُوِّرت بالتعاون مع شركاء أكاديميين ومؤسسيين. وأكدت أهمية دمج المبادئ الأخلاقية الإسلامية في نماذج الاستدامة والحوكمة لضمان حلول سياسية منصفة وعادلة ومرتكزة على السياق الثقافي
