Novo artigo publicado na npj Science of Plants! 🌱🍅

“Tomato aspartic proteinases harbouring PSI domains reveal stress responsiveness, organ specificity, and conserved features.”

New article published in npj Science of Plants! 🌱🍅

We are excited to share our latest publication:
“Tomato aspartic proteinases harbouring PSI domains reveal stress responsiveness, organ specificity, and conserved features.”

In this study, we investigated PSI-containing aspartic proteinases in Solanum lycopersicum (tomato), focusing on their molecular characteristics, tissue-specific expression, and responses to abiotic stress.

🔬 We identified 58 APs in tomato, five of which contain a PSI domain.
🌿 Most PSI-containing APs are highly expressed in cotyledons and roots, with organ-specific patterns in reproductive tissues.
🌊 Under osmotic and saline stress, distinct expression patterns were observed, accompanied by increased oxidative stress markers and antioxidant responses.

Overall, our findings highlight the tightly regulated role of PSI-containing APs in plant adaptation to environmental stress.

Congratulations to the entire team on this achievement! 👏

Today our Sofia presented her master’s thesis, where she talked about the interactions involving the plant-specific insert from cardosins and the trafficking mediated by this domain. Sofia gave an excelent presentation. We are very proud of Sofia’s work.
