CIPES researcher Ana Francisca Monteiro participated in the conference PaTHES 2026 – Imagining Collective Agency in Higher Education: Higher Education Futures for All, held at Aarhus University, Denmark, from 2–4 June.

At the conference, she presented the paper “Digital Governance and the Educational Mission of Higher Education: A New Research Paradigm, a New Identity?”, contributing to ongoing discussions on how digital governance technologies may reshape our understanding of higher education and the identity of the university itself.

The PaTHES – Philosophy and Theory of Higher Education Society brings together scholars across generations to reflect on the values of the university as an institution and on higher education as educational practice.

A investigadora do CIPES, Ana Francisca Monteiro, participou na conferência PaTHES 2026 – Imagining Collective Agency in Higher Education: Higher Education Futures for All, realizada na Universidade de Aarhus, Dinamarca, entre os dias 2 e 4 de junho, onde apresentou a comunicação “Digital Governance and the Educational Mission of Higher Education: A New Research Paradigm, a New Identity?”. Este trabalho pretendeu contribuir para uma reflexão em torno do impacto que as tecnologias de governação digital poderão ter na forma como compreendemos a Educação Superior e a própria identidade da universidade.

A PaTHES – Philosophy and Theory of Higher Education Society reúne académicos de diferentes gerações para refletir sobre os valores da universidade enquanto instituição e sobre a Educação Superior enquanto prática educativa.

On 30 January 2026, the conference Higher Education Autonomy in Europe: supranational, national, and institutional trends (HEAE-SNIT) took place at the Fundação Cupertino de Miranda.

Throughout the day, case studies from Finland, France, Poland, Portugal and the Netherlands were presented, followed by a debate on the impact of these transformations on the governance of higher education institutions, research, innovation and academic autonomy.

The conference was held within the framework of the HEAE-SNIT project (2023–2026), which adopts a multi-level approach to understanding how institutions strategically respond to economic, political and labour-market pressures, challenging the assumption of uniform responses to so-called “global models”.

No dia 30 de janeiro de 2026 realizou-se a conferência Higher Education Autonomy in Europe: supranational, national, and institutional trends (HEAE-SNIT), na Fundação Cupertino de Miranda.

Ao longo do dia foram apresentados estudos de caso da Finlândia, França, Polónia, Portugal e Países Baixos, seguidos de um debate sobre os impactos destas transformações na governação das instituições de ensino superior, na investigação, na inovação e na autonomia académica.

A conferência foi realizada no âmbito do projeto HEAE-SNIT (2023–2026), que adota uma abordagem multinível para compreender como as instituições respondem estrategicamente às pressões económicas, políticas e do mercado de trabalho, desafiando a ideia de respostas uniformes aos chamados “modelos globais”.
