We just had our first-ever remote Share Day!

Working 100% remotely has been our reality for over a year now. And what an insightful journey it has been.

It is true what they say: the human being is the most adaptable species to any new environment. A year has passed and after a successfully implemented remote strategy, and a team well-oiled working from its homes, we have given a new meaning to traditions.

Share Days are the moment we HUUBsters all come together and share all the knowledge we possibly can that we have gathered for the past few months. It usually is a moment of celebration of hard work and conjoint forces.

This year it went a little bit different as we were connecting knowledge from screen to screen. However, we are certain to say that it sure felt like the good old days.

HUUB is proud to announce that, from this moment on, our co-founder Tiago Paiva will take on the role of CEO of the company.

“I am incredibly honoured to take on such a rewarding and exciting challenge. It is a privilege to be assuming the leadership of a company I truly believe in, and of a team that can only be described as exceedingly talented", Tiago says.

To Luís Roque we thank for his knowledge, commitment and leadership throughout these past 6 years while we wish him the best of luck for this new journey.

For HUUB this also marks the start of a new chapter. And we are certain that we are on the right tracks to make this year one with a promising future.

Watch out for the Portuguese Tech Industry!

In recent years, Portugal has emerged as a hub for global tech companies with an above-average success rate in first-generation startups and a pool of talent.

Day by day we continue to grow our technological fabric and we keep on achieving important milestones in the sector. Since 2014 we have witnessed a growth of 650% in the number of national tech companies highlighted on Deloitte’s Technology 500 report. Last year we placed 31st out of 131 countries considered for the Global Talent Competitiveness Index 2019.

That said, it comes as no surprise that this thriving ecosystem has attracted the attention of renowned international tech events such as the DjangoCon Europe 2020, who was planning to set up its venue in Porto this year.

As a tech-driven company contributing to this exciting evolution that led Porto to become the third fastest-growing start-up ecosystem in Europe, we are taking a moment to reflect upon these achievements that continue to make Portugal an accelerator of the tech ecosystem.

Today our CEO Luís Roque will virtually sit alongside business leaders from some of the most exciting and high-level tech companies in Portugal for a digital roundtable discussion on the first ever edition of the CEO Retail Forum.

Hosted by SIC Notícias in partnership with Accenture Portugal and Expresso, the event will bring together renowned industry names to debate the main challenges retail businesses are facing at the moment and explore the critical role of innovation in the sector.

In conversation with Accenture Portugal's Vice-President, Manuela Vaz; Farfetch's VP Architecture, Luís Carvalho and Liliana Ferreira, Executive Board President of Fraunhofer Portugal, the panel will debate on rising new digital trends, how the lockdown shaped consumer behaviour and the impact on supply chains, while tackling important topics such as sustainability and technology.
