Lance Wyman, o icónico designer gráfico Americano, estará em Portugal na próxima semana! Numa iniciativa da experimentadesign em parceria com a Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa e com a ESAD, Wyman vai dar duas palestras nos dias 24 e 25 de Maio. A não perder.

Com uma carreira de mais de 50 anos e um portfólio ímpar, Lance Wyman é autor excepcional que ajudou a definir e a amplificar a linguagem do design de comunicação como a conhecemos hoje.

Numa palestra com o título “Getting Around”, Lance Wyman irá desvendar um pouco do misticismo associado aos seus projectos mais célebres e falar sobre processos criativos, ideias e valores que definem a sua prática de trabalho. Um momento a não perder, não só pela sua carreira e corpo de trabalho, como também pela vivacidade e irreverência de Lance Wyman, que tornam as suas conferências únicas.

A palestra será em língua inglesa e seguida de uma sessão de Q&A.

Lance Wyman, the iconic American graphic designer, comes to Portugal next week!

In a partnership between experimentadesign, Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa and ESAD Matosinhos, he will be giving two talks on May 24 and 25. Don’t miss it.

With a career spanning over 50 years and an unmatched portfolio, Lance Wyman is an exceptional creator, who helped define and amplify the language of communication design as we know it today.

In a lecture entitled "Getting Around", Lance Wyman will unveil some of the mysticism behind his most celebrated projects and talk about the creative processes, ideas and values that define his practice. A moment not to be missed, not only because of his career and body of work, but also for Lance Wyman's vivacity and irreverence, which make his conferences so unique.

The lecture will be held in English and followed by a Q&A session.

A conclusão do curso FAZER BEM ocorreu no fim de Março. Foram três semanas a aprender práticas de artesanato tradicional e a trabalhar em novas perspectivas direcionadas ao desenvolvimento de projectos pessoais e profissionais, com foco na autoconfiança e determinação.

Obrigado à Susana António pela coordenação do curso e às artesãs Dília Silva e Cristina Fonseca, pelos dois workshops que desenvolveram com o grupo de participantes. Gostaríamos de agradecer também à Câmara Municipal de Grândola e à Junta de Freguesia do Carvalhal pela sua disponibilidade e cooperação.

Isto, porém, não é o fim e serão anunciadas novidades em breve.

FAZER BEM came to a close at the end of March. It was three weeks of learning traditional craft practices and working on new perspectives towards the development of personal and professional projects, with a focus on self-confidence, determination and empowerment.

Many thanks to Susana António for coordinating the course and to the artisans Dília Silva and Cristina Fonseca for the two workshops they developed with the group of participants. We would also like to thank the Municipality of Grândola and the Parish Council of Carvalhal for their availability and cooperation.

This, however, is not the end and exciting news will be announced soon.

Esta semana as participantes do FAZER BEM estão a aprender técnicas de cestaria em bunho com a artesã Cristina Fonseca. Esta é uma actividade artesanal com origem em Santarém que faz parte da cultura tradicional portuguesa, mas considerada em vias de extinção por aqueles que trabalham arduamente para a manter viva.

O bunho é uma planta que encontramos em várias regiões de Portugal, especialmente em locais húmidos e/ou pantanosos. Esta fibra vegetal, para além de sustentável e acessível, é também resistente e duradoura.

No decorrer desta semana, as participantes do workshop vão aprender a dominar várias técnicas de transformação e manipulação deste material, com o objectivo de criarem cestos e outras peças originais.

This week, the participants of FAZER BEM are being introduced to bulrush basketry techniques by the artisan Cristina Fonseca. This is a handcraft activity that originated in Santarém and is part of traditional Portuguese culture, although considered at risk of extinction by the people who work hard to keep it alive.

Bulrush is a plant found in various regions of Portugal, especially in humid and/or swamp areas. This organic fibre is not only sustainable and accessible, but also resistant and long-lasting.

During this week, the workshop participants will learn various ways to work with this material, with the aim of creating baskets and other original pieces.
