We began as a group of 5 famous top-rated hostels back in 1995 and named ourselves “The Famous Five”. Over the last 20 years budget traveling has taken off and due to huge demand for the “new concept” budget and stylish accommodation there was a need to expand! Our team searched high and low throughout some of Europe’s most electrifying cities and found hostels that matched our Famous Hostel stand

Europe is mid-heatwave and if you’re travelling right now, you need this.

Timing, hydration, where to cool down for free, how to actually sleep when it’s 35 degrees and what to do if someone around you is struggling.

Save this before you need it, stay safe and send it to someone who’s currently melting somewhere in Europe 🌡️

Most people come to Catania for Etna, the markets, the food. But behind the Baroque streets is another history, one that rarely makes the guidebooks.

These are the hidden q***r stories of Catania: the steps where a community found each other before social media existed, the street where men were persecuted simply for who they were, the waterfront spaces that only existed through word of mouth and collective memory.

These stories were shared with Ostello Degli Elefanti 🐘 over the years by members of Catania’s q***r community, including OPEN and the Catania Pride committee, who continue to create spaces for visibility and community in the city. We’re grateful to everyone who trusted them with their stories.

We’ve shared the full piece on our website. Head to the link in bio and read all these stories 🌈
