Fun with Forts - Arraiolos

We took a road trip north to the village of Arraiolos this weekend. The village is famous for its handmade rugs and we wanted to find one for our living room.
The village and castle are on a hill in the middle of a huge plain, and you can see why the builders chose the site, as you can see for miles in all directions. The castle and walls were built in the early 1300's, and are the only circular walls in Portugal. The only building left standing inside the walls is the church.
On the way back from Arraiolos we visited Evora to see the Roman temple and medieval Cathedral.
