Scholarships for the 2020 EducationUSA Academy

The U.S. Embassy’s Palestinian Affairs Unit (PAU) and EducationUSA are pleased to announce scholarships for Palestinian students to attend the 2020 EducationUSA Academy. The Academy is a U.S. Department of State-sponsored pre-college academic enrichment program for international high school students that prepares them to submit strong applications to U.S. universities and ultimately choose to study in the United States.
The 2020 EducationUSA Academy, which will be hosted by 11 U.S. universities, is a two-to-four-week pre-college academic enrichment program for 15- to 17-year-old students who are foreign nationals and intermediate, advanced, or native English speakers. It provides them with the skills to be successful as undergraduates in their college careers. The following U.S. college and university campuses will host EducationUSA Academy sessions in 2020: Diablo Valley College (California), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Florida), Northwestern University (Illinois), Syracuse University (New York), Temple University (Pennsylvania), University of Colorado Boulder (Colorado), Boston University (Massachusetts), St. Cloud State University (Minnesota), St. John’s University (New York), University of Tennessee-Knoxville (Tennessee), University of Wisconsin-Madison (Wisconsin).

Participating students will explore the process of preparing successful college applications as they build college-level academic skills. They will also have the opportunity to experience student life and gain a better understanding of the U.S higher education system. Each institution typically hosts 15-20 students, but larger groups are also possible, including groups sent as a unit by governments or institutions abroad. The program also includes customized visits to a diverse range of college and university campuses in the vicinity of the host institution in order for students to gain an understanding of the wide range of institutions available to them. Programs include exposure to large state institutions, smaller private colleges, minority-serving institutions, and community colleges. The Academy is an immersive English language program, so students are expected to already have sufficient English language skills, though the program can accommodate intermediate level speakers.

Students should visit http://www.edusaacademy.org for more information about summer 2020 EducationUSA Academy offerings including a list of host institutions, specialized programs, applicable fees, application procedures, and deadlines. From this site, students will be directed to each host campus website and instructed to follow that institution’s application process.

Eligible applicants for PAU-funded scholarships must be:
