What is the story behind Gaza’s Phoenix t?🪔
I’ve always heard that Gaza is like the Phoenix—a city that never dies, that rises again no matter how hard they try to erase it. Even its municipality’s emblem carries the mythical bird, as if it has always known its fate, as if it was destined to burn and then rise, over and over again, without end.

But today, as I watch what is happening, I can’t help but wonder: how can the Phoenix rise when there is nothing left of it? This war is unlike any before—it is not just destruction, not just bombings, but a relentless erasure, an attempt to wipe out everything, every memory, every landmark, every trace. They want Gaza to disappear, to become nothing, as if it never existed.

A year and a half of massacres, of rubble that has grown taller than the houses, of death that has outnumbered life. And just when we thought we could catch our breath, when we dared to believe that the Phoenix might try to rise again, they struck with an even fiercer fire, a war more brutal, a slaughter without end. Gaza’s people were not even given the right to mourn, not granted the time to grieve their losses. Instead, their wounds were torn open once more, right before the eyes of a world that watches in silence—as if they have decided that this time, Gaza will not rise, that the Phoenix will not return, that this story must finally come to an end.

But I know Gaza. I know its people. And I know that this story does not end here.
