On , we take a look back to where it all started. John H. Duke, former US National Team, Yale University rower and M.I.T Marine Architecture graduate invents and patents the unique WaterFlyWheel®, establishing WaterRower, Inc. in the State of Rhode Island in the United States in 1988.

The development of the rowing machine’s easy function and timeless design originated from a basic idea: Indoor training should simulate the given conditions on the water as closely as possible. From the first Series 1 rower, to our current models today, we have continuously engineered, developed, and built our rowers to be an essential component in your fitness journey for many years to come.

Today, WaterRower, Inc. is still manufacturing for worldwide distribution out of coastal Warren, Rhode Island. With over 15 global offices, we continuously strive to be the leading, worldwide manufacturer of indoor rowing machines each and every day.
