OffRoad Prowler

Those of you who follow me on Instagram know that I’ve just spent the last month on an expedition to Libya.

This journey turned out to be very different from what I had imagined. Shortly after entering Tunisia, my car started having serious issues. Issues that eventually led to a decision in Ghadames: the vehicle would go on a tow truck to Tripoli, and I would continue the journey with the rest of the team, in their cars — with minimal resources.

My resources had already been reduced earlier anyway. In Tunisia, my drone was confiscated. First a police station, then court the next day. But that’s a story for the video — too much to write here 😉

Used to being completely independent during my expeditions, I suddenly became fully dependent on the group. The travel comfort I had built over the years disappeared overnight. Back to a small tent. A mattress I barely fit on. Limited clothes and gear. Food and personal items scattered between different vehicles. And since the group naturally split into the “party” and the “non-party” camp at night, I found myself constantly walking back and forth between cars just to function.

At times, it was damn hard.

But I didn’t have a choice.

And that lesson — stepping far outside my comfort zone — turned out to be one of the most valuable experiences of this trip.

In the beginning, I was focused mainly on filming, so there aren’t many photos from the first days. It was only when we reached the Adhan Morzog Sand — the massive dunes of Libya — that I started shooting more stills.

Almost 5,000 km across Western Libya.

Getting stuck just 5 meters off the hardened road definitely counts as one, but I’m including it in my video as well because I try to make these travel reports as authentic as possible. And this was undoubtedly a significant part of that day spent in Truso Valley, Georgia.

Besides that, as always – lots of beautiful landscapes, a bit of history, and some personal reflections, especially on the massive changes happening in Georgia. The remote places that were quite a challenge to reach just a decade ago are now seeing civilization creeping in. You’ll find a few striking contrasts to illustrate this in the video.
