Three types of content sharing channels | Content Marketing

These days we're constantly bombarded with tons of information and content in all shapes and forms. Blogs, videos, graphs, infographics and photos can be found everywhere across the internet. How you, an advertiser trying to sell your product and services to more people, are supposed to find your way in this ocean of information?

A good place to start is to understand the types of channels where you can post your content. There are three:

1. Owned channels refer to all marketing channels you own and control, like your website and your social media accounts. It’s a great starting point, as it’s the most flexible and cost-efficient one.

2. Earned channels refer to anything that’s picked up by a third party, which can be other people from your industry that decided to share your content on their owned channels. They are great at boosting content and adding credibility to it.

3. Paid channels refer to the promotion that you pay for. They allow you to target your content to specific audiences and customers. It’s also generally referred to as SEM

Each of these channels has undisputed advantages and disadvantages, and it's important to find the right one for you and your brand.
