Lviv Month in Wroclaw Intentions

It’s for the first time in the history of the European Capital of Culture programme, when its participant becomes a city from outside the European Union. In April Lviv will become a bridge between Europe and the whole Ukraine.

By means of culture and direct communication between people we’d like to demonstrate Ukraine – a young one, interesting and vibrant. The Lviv Month project aims not only to present contemporary Ukraine, but also to initiate and enhance the intercultural synergies between our countries, as well as to create a common space for understanding similarities and differences between residents of Ukraine, Poland and the EU.

ornament-04While the Lviv Month preparation stage, we treated Lviv to be a sort of a camera lens, through which we can look deep into the whole country; a city through which we were able to communicate with culture and art of Ukraine in its various and numerous dimensions.

The Lviv Month in Wroclaw will be participated by about a hundred Ukrainian artists, poets, writers, film directors, musicians, curators, artists, performers, culture managers, philosophers and intellectuals. The diverse and rich 30-day art programme, deliberately thought out and compiled in cooperation with famous Ukrainian curators, will present concerts, discussions, literary meetings, master classes, workshops, exhibitions, performances, educational entertainments for children and film screenings.
