“Red wine glass”

The “red wine glass sign” in MRI refers to hypersignalling in the anatomical pathway of the cortical spinal tract in the coronal section,

which represents an important and critical radiological evidence for the UMN lesion . This radiation marker is a classic feature that supports the diagnosis of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), reflecting vallar degeneration and glial proliferation caused by damage to motor nerve fibres in the brain.

Their presence greatly helps in distinguishing diagnostics of ALS from other causes of muscle dysfunction.
