Moderate to heavy rain battered Chhachhro and Dahli towns and adjoining villages late on Sunday night and again on Monday afternoon, filling up depressions and dried-up ponds with rainwater.

The area people said that the stored water in ponds would cater to their needs for next two weeks.

Some villagers had already started weeding out their fields in preparation for cultivating traditional crops if it continued to rain for next couple of weeks, they said.

They said that their cattle would also have some fresh grass after a few days.

It was still raining in some villages of Islamkot taluka and Thar coalfield area, which turned the weather peasant and the area people came out of homes to celebrate showers in the wake of severe heatwave gripping the desert for past many weeks.
