Pakistan generates around 65 percent of its electricity from oil and gas and 0.1 percent from coal, according to the Finance Ministry’s 2013 Economic Survey. Now the country plans to improve the fuel mix to reduce the cost of power generation by minimising the share of oil through LNG import on fast-track basis, the analysts said.
