Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has achieved a significant milestone with its first international flight departing from the newly opened Gwadar International Airport to Muscat.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the inaugural flight, PK-197, carried 39 passengers and departed on time, marking the commencement of international operations from the state-of-the-art airport, as reported by Express News.

Initially, PIA will operate a weekly flight on the Gwadar-Muscat route to meet the growing demand for travel and enhance regional connectivity.

Bulls asserted their dominance in the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday, propelling the market to a new milestone by surpassing the 74,000 mark.

The benchmark KSE-100 index surged to 74,086.54 points during intraday trading, marking a notable increase of 1,001.04 points or 1.37% compared to the previous close of 73,085.50 points. Raza Jafri, CEO of EFG Hermes Pakistan, that there is a growing confidence among investors regarding the upcoming monetary policy announcement scheduled for June 10, anticipating a potential interest rate cut.

Additionally, there is a favorable sentiment regarding the outlook of the Pakistani rupee. Consequently, there has been heightened investor interest in previously underperforming sectors such as cement, steel, and pharmaceuticals, which are now driving the next phase of the market rally, according to the analyst.

PIA is getting ready to recommence its flight services to Paris next month. During a discussion with a group from the Council of Economic and Energy Journalists in Islamabad, The spokesperson for PIA, disclosed that the national airline anticipates receiving the much-awaited safety clearance from the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) by the end of this month.

"Once we obtain the clearance, we'll kick off flights to Paris by June, and then proceed to reintroduce direct flights from Pakistan to Heathrow Airport in Britain on August 14,"

In anticipation of the European and British routes reopening, PIA has accelerated the maintenance and overhaul procedures for its Boeing 777 aircraft fleet.

Presently, seven Boeing 777 planes are operational, with two more slated to join the fleet within the next two months. This expansion will allow PIA to efficiently operate flights to Europe and Britain, boasting a total of nine Boeing 777 planes.
