"The rise of one’s own self-esteem, is the main ground for betterment of one’s conditions," says Ifra Bibi. Her journey, is thus, no less than a self-discovery of her persistent will and determination, that brought about an entrepreneurial colour to her financially deploring life condition. Ifra Bibi is a resident of Union Council Gadhai, Shukoorabad, mother of three and wife of a labourer. Due to the economic scarcities, she always thought of means to support and shoulder her husband in sharing the household responsibilities.
Working towards improving the life of her family, Ifra Bibi started saving up to lend support to her husband in hard times, and eventually her nest egg amounted to Rs. 10,000; enough for her to go ahead with starting to sell clothes, embroidery, jewellery, and bangles from the convenience of her home. However, she didn’t earn a resolute profit, until her neighbour suggested her of visiting CEIP office that led to increase in her investment, under the PM interest-free loan scheme.
The expansion and variety of her business products has helped Ifra Bibi earn profit margin in her income and currently, she falls in the second loan cycle session, whereby Rs. 35,000 was granted interest-free to her, based upon the scale of her business. ‘‘Two of my kids now go to school,’’ she proudly shared, as her business now, expands across leaps and bounds. Bibi Ifra expressed gratitude to the PM and CEIP, through which she has gained confidence to pursue her business, and support her family, after a period of dismay and deficit in initial days of her entrepreneurial experiment.
