Students of the Electrical Engineering Department (EED) studying Power System Fundamentals (Sec A) visited the WAPDA Town Grid Station Lahore on Jan 14, 2022. This industrial visit was highly valuable to narrow down the gap between industry and academia. Such visits are crucial for our students as it provides the detail and insight of how the work is being implemented in the field at the grid station and practical perspective of the work in the world beyond academics and how the things that we have studied in the university are being implemented and used in real life.

-Following Outcomes were learned by the students;
-Transforms (Auto/Power)
-System Energizing & De- Energizing Process
-Insulators & Breakers (Off Load/On Load Devices)
-Air-Insulated Substation (AIS) & Gas-Insulated Substation (GIS)
-Lightning Surge Arrestors & other precautionary measures
-220kV Electric Poles, Bus Bars, Bays, etc
-Controlling Unit, Protective Relays, and Battery Back Ups along necessary DC Power.

In the future, EED, SEN will also arrange such visits and other industrial events from the start of Spring 2022 by considering the final year students to get better exposure. EED is highly thankful to the National Transmission & Despatch Company (NTDC) for this wonderful knowledge and hospitality.
