We as a nation never paid homage to our real hero's rather always worshiped heroes alike villains. Today's the death anniversary of Ch Rehmat Ali, proponent of Independence movement and inventor of Pakistan's name. His ancestral landholdings were lost in 1947 partition and left of the properties and wealth was confiscated on the orders of Liaquat Ali Khan. You know why? Because he dreamed to make Pakistan a welfare state but the incumbent PM Liaquat Ali Khan considered this as a threat and forced him to leave the country.
He lived the rest of his life in sheer poverty, misery, loneliness and finally died on 3rd February 1951 helplessly. You know what? His body wasn't discovered for days. He was so broke that his old college had to pay for his funeral, that's why this champion was buried 17 days after his death.
I regard Ch Rehmat Ali was the most decisive, significant and prime figure of Pakistan's pre-struggle after Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
But look how we treated him.
