Amid rising concerns and fast development of human-like artificial intelligence technology (AI) such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, a leading AI expert — usually regarded as the Godfather of AI — quits his post at Google to speak up about the dangers posed by the technology.

Geoffrey Hinton left his position at the technology giant last week. He has pioneered neural networks of AI systems widely used in technology products.

He has also contributed to the company's AI development however, he had maintained concerns since he was working at Google as the technology began to advance.

Hinton told the New York Times that "I console myself with the normal excuse: If I hadn't done it, somebody else would have."

Billionaire Elon Musk said on Monday he will launch an artificial intelligence (AI) platform that he calls "TruthGPT" to challenge the offerings from Microsoft and Google.
He criticized Microsoft-backed OpenAI, the firm behind chatbot sensation ChatGPT, of "training the AI to lie" and said OpenAI has now become a "closed source," "for-profit" organization "closely allied with Microsoft."
He also accused Larry Page, co-founder of Google, of not taking AI safety seriously.
"I'm going to start something which I call 'TruthGPT', or a maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe," Musk said in an interview with Fox News Channel's Tucker Carlson aired on Monday.
He said TruthGPT "might be the best path to safety" that would be "unlikely to annihilate humans."
"It's simply starting late. But I will try to create a third option," Musk said.
Musk, OpenAI, Microsoft and Page did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.
Musk has been poaching AI researchers from Alphabet Inc's Google to launch a startup to rival OpenAI, people familiar with the matter told Reuters.
Musk last month registered a firm named http://X.AI Corp, incorporated in Nevada, according to a state filing. The firm listed Musk as the sole director and Jared Birchall, the managing director of Musk's family office, as a secretary.

Another one appeared just as we began to understand ChatGPT. The GPT-4 language model’s capabilities are being pushed via the experimental open-source programme known as AutoGPT.
AutoGPT a tool that enables you to create AI agents using GPT-4 that can carry out activities on your behalf.

Auto-GPT, developed by Toran Bruce Richards, is an open-source program that functions more as an experiment than as a tool to demonstrate the potential of GPT-4. The script is able to tie together tasks that one needs GPT-4 to complete and carry them out in the proper order.
To do this, a user must first establish an AI agent in the app, describe the job of the agent, and then provide five objectives for the agent to meet. Along with a Google API key, one must also provide it an OpenAI API key while doing this.
Once this is finished, the tool may easily do iterative operations, such as taking a GPT-4 output and feeding it back into the AI model to enhance the outcomes.

With rapidly expanding AI competition from Microsoft and OpenAI, Google's search engine is lagging behind. The company is racing to compete with a new AI-powered search engine.

Though still in its early stages of development, the search engine might offer hopes of a “far more personalized experience”.

The company is also developing other new AI features for its existing search engine under Codename 'Magi'.

Some of the features the rumored search engine will feature include a chatbot that can answer software engineering questions and generate code snippets. Another feature would allow users to search for music through chatbot conversation. The Times, reports that Google has already assigned 160 employees to the project.
