After a topic has been introduced, give your child a question to attempt and allow him or her time to analyze and come up with an answer. Appreciate all answers and ask for the reasoning behind it. If the logic is faulty probe into it until they realize the mistake, without spelling out the mistake itself.
I know it can be frustrating but let them try multiple methods to solve the question. It will lead to a deeper learning experience and greater retention compared to being told the correct answer!
