Unlock Your Potential: The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS)

Are you an outstanding student from outside the EU/EEA, ready to pursue a Master's degree at a top-tier European university? The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) is your opportunity to join a community of high-achievers and be recognized for your academic excellence.

This prestigious award is more than just financial support; it's an invitation to distinguish yourself as one of the most promising talents at the University of Twente.

Why Apply for the UTS?

Financial Support: Receive a scholarship ranging from €3,000 to €22,000 for your first year of study.

Honours Recognition: Gain an exclusive invitation to apply for one of our renowned honours programmes: Research Honours, Design Honours, or Change Leaders.

For Two-Year Programmes: Students who meet the required academic standards in their first year may qualify for an additional scholarship to cover the second year.

Key Financial Details

The UTS is a cash award to help offset your study-related costs. Please note:

The funds are paid directly to you, and you decide how to allocate them.

It is not applied directly to your tuition fees.

We recommend reviewing the estimated cost of living in the Netherlands to plan your budget effectively.

Are You Eligible?
To qualify for the UTS, you must meet all the following criteria:

Nationality: You must be a citizen of a non-EU/EEA country.

Programme Admission: You must hold a (provisionally) admitted status for a qualifying UT Master programme starting in September 2026. Note: Master's programmes at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) are excluded.

Academic Excellence: You must rank among the top 5-10% of your graduating class.

Student Number: You must have a valid University of Twente student number.

Language Proficiency: You meet the enhanced English requirement: Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT 90) with a minimum sub-score of 6.0 (IELTS) or 20 (TOEFL iBT) in speaking.

Other Conditions:

You have not previously graduated from a University of Twente programme.

You meet the Dutch entry visa requirements (if applicable).

You are not eligible for a Dutch student loan.

Maintaining Your Scholarship (Two-Year Programmes)
If you are enrolled in a two-year programme and receive the UTS in your first year, you can qualify for a second-year award by achieving:

An average grade of 7.0 (out of 10) by the end of the third quartile of your first year.

At least 50% of European Credits by the end of the third quartile of your first year.
