Ano gusto mo, AWAY, GULO o GERA?!?

Divorce by combat, the medieval way of ending a marriage.

In medieval Germany, husbands and wives could settle disputes through marital duels. A marital duel was a form of trial by combat standard in Germanic society during the Middle Ages. It was an unusual means for spouses to resolve significant disputes within their marriage. According to many ancient tales, to settle allegations of infidelity, the husband and wife would engage in a regulated duel with each other and fight against one another.

Because men and women have fundamentally different levels of muscular power, complicated restrictions were devised to make the husband's life more difficult. The man was expected to battle while trapped inside a hole that was either up to his waist or neck, severely limiting his mobility. He had one arm behind his back, severely hindering his performance.

On the other hand, the wife was allowed unrestricted movement within the open space around the hole. She purposefully slowed herself down by wearing intentionally cumbersome and weighted-down gear. In addition, she was carrying a bag with pebbles inside of it to use as a weapon against her husband, who was helpless.

Even though they were a relatively rare event, these bizarre marriage duels provide light on the patriarchal gender dynamics and the deeply rooted culture of violence in medieval Germany. The intricate restrictions that were placed on the husband demonstrate, as well, that there were concerns about ensuring that society saw the decision as a just verdict from God regarding marital conflicts. It was believed that this was evidence of God's judgment against the woman for her supposed crimes if the husband could triumph over the obstacles and vanquish his wife. On the other hand, if the battering of the husband by the wife was successful, then they thought it was a sign from God that he was guilty. The people of medieval Germany believed that God would vindicate the righteous cause. As a result, the strange practice of married duels is evidence of the significant weight that gender bias and religious beliefs had in medieval conceptions of justice and the proper order of society.

3-in-1 Instant πŸ…²πŸ…ΎπŸ…΅πŸ…΅πŸ…΄πŸ…΄ lover ka din ba?

The invention of instant coffee is credited to a Japanese chemist named Satori Kato. In 1901, Kato was working in Chicago, Illinois, at the time and was attempting to find a way to produce a soluble coffee that could be easily prepared and consumed.

Kato's breakthrough came when he discovered a method to create soluble coffee powder by using hot water to extract the coffee flavor from the beans. He developed a process where coffee beans were roasted, ground into a fine powder, and then brewed into a concentrated liquid. This liquid was then rapidly dried through various methods, such as freeze-drying or spray-drying, to remove the water content and leave behind the soluble coffee powder.

The resulting coffee powder could be rehydrated quickly by simply adding hot water, making it convenient for people who wanted a fast and easy way to prepare their coffee. This was a significant advancement compared to traditional brewing methods, which required brewing time and equipment like coffee makers or percolators.

Kato's invention gained recognition and popularity, and he eventually patented his instant coffee process in Japan in 1903. Instant coffee quickly gained popularity not only in Japan but also worldwide due to its convenience, long shelf life, and ease of preparation.

Over the years, advancements have been made in the production of instant coffee, leading to improvements in taste, aroma, and overall quality. Different techniques have been developed to preserve the flavor and aroma of the coffee during the drying process, ensuring a more enjoyable cup of instant coffee.

Today, instant coffee is widely available in various forms, including freeze-dried granules, powder, and single-serve packets. It has become a popular choice for those seeking a quick and easy coffee solution, especially in situations where brewing equipment may not be readily available or when time is a constraint.

Although instant coffee is convenient, it's important to note that the flavor profile and quality may differ from freshly brewed coffee due to the manufacturing process. Nevertheless, it remains a popular choice for millions of coffee drinkers around the world.
