PJS Publications: This study reviewed available literature and conducted interviews with local fishermen to document the distribution of wild eucheumatoid seaweeds—important sources of carrageenan—in Palawan, Philippines, identifying 42 sites and eight species. Results showed that Eucheuma denticulatum and Kappaphycus striatus were the most widely distributed, highlighting the need for more surveys, especially in the Western Philippine Sea, to support conservation and management efforts.

Using phenotypic screening and 𝘈𝘎1 allele genotyping, the researchers identified several elite lines and varieties with intermediate to high AG tolerance, highlighting promising candidates for breeding rice varieties resilient to direct seeding systems.
