NMWP Under Joint DND-DILG listed LTG member with reward, Arrested in Marawi City

Marawi City, Lanao del Sur – On June 8, 2024, personnel from the 44th Special Action Company, 4th Special Action Battalion in collaboration with the Marawi City Police Station and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) BARMM (Lead Unit), successfully arrested of alias “Commander Wahab Gara.” Commander Wahab Gara, a notorious member of a local terrorist group (LTG) and listed among the National Most Wanted Persons (MWP) as well as the Department of National Defense (DND) and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), had a reward of Php 1,300,000.00 for his capture.

The arrest occurred in Barangay Tuca, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, by virtue of Warrant of Arrest with Criminal Case No. 14478 (non-bailable) for violation of Article 324 of the Revised Penal Code (Crimes Involving Destruction), issued by Hon. Oscar V. Badelles, Judge of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 5, 12th Judicial Region, Iligan City, dated August 17, 2009.

The arrested personnel is now in the custody of CIDG BARMM for documentation and proper disposition.

The successful operation is a testament to the unwavering dedication and diligence of the Philippine National Police Special Action Force (PNP SAF) and other law enforcement agencies in their continuous efforts to combat criminality and ensure the safety and security of the region.
