ICYMI: CFS SSLG launches “Project S.I.K.A.P."; mobilizes school-wide outreach across the City

SANTIAGO CITY, ISABELA — Demonstrating student leadership in action, the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) of Children First School (CFS) officially launched Project S.I.K.A.P.: Adopt a Family, a section-led outreach initiative designed to extend structured and accountable assistance to families in need across Santiago City on February 18.

The project, formally proposed and spearheaded by the CFS SSLG, was coordinated directly with School Principal Ma’am Tessie C. Pasion, ensuring proper administrative oversight, safety protocols, and organized implementation.

Project S.I.K.AP., which stands for Section-led na Inisyatibong Kalingang Abot sa Nangangailangang Pamilya, was envisioned as a Family Day 2026 initiative that transforms celebration into meaningful community engagement.

From Preschool to Grade 12, each grade level identified at least one beneficiary family within Santiago City. With 14 grade levels participating, the initiative initially targeted a minimum of 14 families. However, due to the generosity and strong participation of several sections, some grade levels were able to support two beneficiary families, expanding the project’s overall reach beyond its original target.

Prior to the official outreach day, student representatives, together with their class advisers, conducted preliminary visits and interviews to assess the living conditions, household needs, and sources of livelihood of their chosen families. This verification process ensured that assistance would be responsive, appropriate, and aligned with the actual needs of each household.

On February 18, class representatives and selected students proceeded to their assigned barangays to formally deliver donations which includes essential food items, household necessities, and other support materials collected through coordinated section efforts.

More than a donation drive, Project S.I.K.A.P. emphasized empathy, accountability, and solidarity by involving learners directly in needs assessment and outreach coordination, the initiative fostered civic responsibility and strengthened the connection between the school and the wider community.

Through this student-led endeavor, CFS reaffirmed its commitment not only to academic excellence but also to holistic formation—encouraging learners to translate leadership into compassionate action. Project S.I.K.A.P. stands as a testament to how organized student governance, when properly guided and coordinated, can create meaningful impact beyond the classroom.

Spearheaded once again by the young!~ 🌟

Aiming to expose the youth in participating to local communities to make them aware of the reality faced by marginalized families, this Family Day 2026, we go beyond celebration, we choose compassion.

Through Project S.I.K.A.P., each grade level from Pre-School to Grade 12 will identify and extend help to one family in need within Santiago City, in coordination with their class adviser and SSLG representatives.

This initiative is more than just an outreach, rather it is about building empathy, strengthening unity, and living out the true meaning of service as CFSians. Let’s come together, take action, and make a difference — one family at a time. 💙✨
