The Extension Services Program of the Department of History aims to contribute to the development of the community through its history-related services such as trainings and seminars. These services are provided to the adopted community on a regular basis where the program has established tie-ups to address the needs of the people in the Barangay. These are done in two complementary approaches:

The Gabay at Sanay sa Kasaysayan (GSK) is an academic extension and community outreach program of PUP Department of History to schools and municipalities in the Philippines. It is specifically designed to disseminate information on methods of writing local and oral histories. It likewise serves as an avenue for PUP History faculty members to present their historical researches via seminars, lecture-forums and workshops. The GSK also conducts academic contests for students of participating schools (e.g. team quiz bee, essay writing, debate, etc.). Its themes are either based on Philippine History and Geography or the history of the locality. DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY

The PUP Department of Sociology commits itself to academic excellence and the PUP Philosophy of a nationalist, scientific, and pro-people education, deeply involved and identified with recurrent social issues of Philippine society as well as global concerns, dedicated to the holistic development of the person who will contribute to desired and directed social change. The Department of Sociology cooperates with the University's vision of creating positive impact and transformation of lives by sharing skills and expertise, contributing to capability building of communities, and providing services that will help improve the lives of other sectors of societies, most of which are marginalized. DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

The Department of Economics envisions itself to be an excellent vehicle for teaching economics and research creating an edge in laying the foundation of a socially relevant and development-oriented curriculum in economics. It aims to produce responsible graduates and professionals who are equipped with adequate knowledge and analytical skills that make them globally competitive individuals and innovative leaders in the field of economics. Through its extension and community involvement services, the Department likewise aims to be a meaningful sector in the community by extending support through livelihood projects and build awareness to the communities in different economic areas and to strengthen networking with outside groups and individuals and forge partnerships with them in the delivery of extension services.

DEPARTMENT OF COOPERATIVES AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

The Department of Cooperatives and Social Development is an accredited training provider for cooperatives in the Philippines. The Department responds to the education, training and information needs of the cooperatives through offering customized training courses and dissemination of information and learning materials on the cooperative idea and practice. One of the thrusts of the Department is to reach to and work with communities and occupational groups most needful of education/training, linkaging, research, information and technical assistance related to cooperative promotion, organization and development. This is done by responding urgently to requests for support and assistance from deprived and underserved sectors in rural and urban communities and by strengthening coop extension program and community outreach involving faculty, students, alumni, out-of-school youth and the unemployed.
