Typhoons and flooding are never new to us for we experience it almost annually here in Cagayan Valley. Every year, we see and hear stories of submerged hopes in our beloved town and people get used into it as time runs.

The Municipality of Santa Maria, Province of Isabela is once again in need of assistance with majority of its areas being submerged in flood brought by Typhoon Paeng. This is a familiar scenario from Typhoon Ulysses that brought hopelessness, peril, and destruction, and may we never get tired to lend a hand to our brothers and sisters.

Having said, the Kilos and Usbong is here! Ang maagap na pagKILOS ay magkakaloob ng matagumpay na pagUSBONG.

With this, the KilUsbong: Marian Youth's Donation Drive, the first-ever ignited action and collective efforts of the different registered youth organizations in collaboration with the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation, would want to take part in giving genuine comfort to the victims; however, this would only be possible with your warmest and kindest help and donations.

The KilUsbong: Marian Youth's Donation Drive is now accepting both cash and in-kind donations. Kindly see the details below.

This donation drive is conducted by the following Marian youth organizations in collaboration with the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation:

FROM THE YOUTH | Get to know what a youth can tell the community! Here's what Jomar thinks about taking CoVID-19 vaccines.

"From the moment I heard the news about the roll-outs of CoVID-19 vaccines in our town, I knew that it is the start of ending the burdens and difficulties we've experienced for more than a year due to this pandemic.

However, honest to goodness, I am a bit hesitant but NOT an anti-vaxxer to get my first doze of vaccine. It is not because I am afraid of the side effects or just even of the syringe's needle, but because I knew to myself that I am not yet ready. I'm not yet ready to face the side effects that I may feel minutes or hours after being vaccinated. I am aware that side effects are among the incorruptible truth behind vaccines and it is normal. These only mean that our immune system is starting to build protection against virus that may cause CoVID-19.

Now, I know for sure that some of you who's currently reading this may say that "How can I believe and persuade others, if I, myself, is hesitant to get the first shot of vaccine?" Yes, I am hesitant but this doesn't mean that I don't want to be vaccinated especially as a science major student, I know that these developed vaccines underwent numerous trial phases in order to assure its efficacy and be safe for everyone.

In this trying times, in order to convince other people to get and accept vaccines, I will listen and understand their concerns first, educate, and inform them with verified information and humbly ask them to cooperate and work together along with the government.

Firstly, listening to each other's concerns is one of the best ways to understand the root of everyone's hesitations. With this, I can create an opportunity to effectively persuade those people who have no plans to accept vaccines. Moreover, I will never judge someone hesitant because nothing good will come from doing this and this may lead to more chaos.

Secondly, spreading information based on facts really matters. I will advise them to refrain from watching and sharing myths and misleading information regarding vaccines. This will only create skepticism or fear that will cause people to not accept vaccines anymore. Most of all, before believing with every video or information we get, make sure that the sources are reliable and based on facts.

Lastly, I will remind them that we are all in this battle together. It is a must that we should work together and cooperate with our government in eradicating this virus so that we can go back to things we used to do before the occurence of pandemic like traditional classes and mass gatherings.

These may sound very idealistic to pursue, but I still believe that the journey in ending this CoVID-19 pandemic lies in our collective and collaborative efforts. It is okay to have hesitations with regards in this matter but it is NOT okay to refuse and totally close our doors in getting CoVID-19 vaccines."

Jomar of Barangay Divisoria, is a 2nd year BSEd Science Major student in Cagayan State University Andrews Campus and he believes that .
