Inihayag ni House Senior Deputy Speaker at Quezon 2nd District Rep. David “Jay-Jay” Suarez sa isang ambush interview nitong Miyerkules, Agosto 13, na hindi umano galing sa Kamara de Representantes ang sinabi ni Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero na ‘demolition job’ na ibinibintang ng huli sa Kamara.

Ito ay kaugnay sa pagkumpirma ni Escudero sa kanyang press briefing nitong Martes, Agosto 12, na naging campaign donor niya ang Sorsogon-based firm Centerways Construction and Development Inc. noong 2022 elections ngunit sinabi niya na wala siya umanong kinalaman sa mga anumang flood control project sa Sorsogon.

Pinabulaanan rin ni House spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante ang sinabi ni Escudero ukol sa ‘demolition job’ laban sa kanya: “Wala pong nanggagaling sa House. Ang tutok po ng House of Representatives ay ang trabaho at tungkulin nito,” saad niya.

“Ang trabaho ng House ay hindi po magsimula ng anumang away kahit kanino man,” wika ni Abante sa panayam sa kanya sa ‘Unang Balita’ ng Unang Hirit nitong Miyerkules.

Una nang nagpahayag ng kumpiyansa si House Speaker Martin Romualdez na kakayaning magbenta sa publiko ng tig-P30 kada kilo ng bigas pagsapit ng Hulyo.

“We are confident that it is possible to offer rice below P30 per kilo as early as July this year. The Department of Agriculture (DA) is currently identifying the areas where affordable, well-milled rice will be made available to the public,” sabi ni Romualdez.

Iniaunsiyo ito ng House leader nitong Mayo 6 pagkatapos niyang makipagpulong kay Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, sa matataas na opisyal ng National Irrigation Administration (NIA) at ng iba pang tanggapang nakapailalim sa DA.

“Although we cannot yet achieve this throughout the entire country, we can start in selected areas identified by the Department of Agriculture. We hope that this initiative will soon reach all parts of the country, especially after the amendment of the Rice Tariffication Law,” ani Romualdez, na isinusulong ang pag-amyenda sa Rice Tariffication Law upang maibalik sa National Food Authority (NFA) ang kapangyarihang bumili at magbenta ng murang bigas.
