𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐒 | 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Yesterday, the Catherinian community gathered in faith as we celebrated our First Friday Mass, presided over by our School Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Alwin Bobis.

In his homily, Father Alwin reminded us of the importance of having hearts that are open to God and to one another. Drawing from John Locke's concept of the tabula rasa (blank slate), he encouraged everyone to remain teachable, for listening is the beginning of understanding. He also emphasized that being able to give is a blessing, inspiring us to become generous in sharing our time, talents, and kindness.

Reflecting on the Gospel of Thomas the Apostle, Father Alwin highlighted Christ's comforting words, "Peace be with you," reminding us that true peace comes from trusting in the Lord, even amid our doubts and uncertainties.

May this First Friday celebration continue to strengthen our faith and inspire us to live as true Catherinians—guided by Faith, Service, and Competence.

Today, June 20, 2026, the Catherinian community gathered in faith and thanksgiving for the anticipated Sunday Mass, celebrating the call of Christ to become His witnesses in the world.

Reflecting on the Gospel, we were reminded of Jesus' reassuring words: “Do not be afraid.” As His disciples, we are called to courageously proclaim His message, trusting that God is always with us and that He will provide for all our needs.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Alwin B. Bobis reflected on the Seven Capital Sins and how they continue to challenge us in our daily lives. He reminded our students that they do not always need to be the best, but they should always strive to learn, for the true purpose of going to school is not merely to achieve recognition but to grow in knowledge, wisdom, and character.

Fr. Alwin also encouraged everyone to be responsible in using the internet, exercising caution and discernment in what they browse and consume online. He connected the sins of greed and gluttony to real-world issues, emphasizing how selfish desires can contribute to problems that affect entire communities. He likewise reminded students to avoid laziness by helping with simple household chores, to learn self-control in moments of anger, and to resist envy by being content with God's blessings, trusting that He gives us even more than we deserve according to His loving plan.

As we continue our journey as Catherinians, may we heed Christ's call to be His apostles in today's world—living lives marked by humility, gratitude, responsibility, and faith. Let us move forward without fear, confident that God walks with us every step of the way.

Building a strong partnership between home and school for a meaningful school year ahead.

Today, June 13, 2026, Saint Catherine of Siena Academy of Samal, Inc. successfully conducted its Parents' Orientation Program for School Year 2026–2027 at the Samal Municipal Hall. The orientation was held in two sessions: 8:00 AM for the parents and guardians of Grade School to Grade 8 learners, and 10:00 AM for the parents and guardians of Grade 9 to Grade 12 learners.

Led by our School Principal, Mr. Aldrin S. Dela Cruz, together with the dedicated faculty and support staff, the program served as an avenue to discuss important school policies, academic expectations, and plans for the new school year.

Thank you to all parents and guardians for your presence, cooperation, and commitment to supporting the education and holistic formation of our Catherinians. Together, let us make SY 2026–2027 a year of growth, excellence, and faith.
