𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: Foreign nationals who went missing while trekking without local guides at Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park in Negros Oriental province have been safely located after more than 48 hours. The individuals were rescued by Team Malabo, Sibulan’s renowned search-and-rescue (SAR) unit. According to reports, the pair admitted they had wandered off the established trail to take photos, disregarding trail markers, and became disoriented due to dense fog.

Key Lessons:

1. Hire local guides- when exploring unfamiliar outdoor terrainβ€”their expertise ensures safety and navigation awareness.

2. Stay on marked trails at all times- deviating increases risks of getting lost, especially in unpredictable weather conditions.

3. Respect trail signage and weather advisories-; environmental factors like fog can rapidly compromise visibility and orientation.

This incident underscores the critical importance of preparedness and adhering to safety protocols in engaging outdoor activities or entering remote areas.
