Do cats really have nine lives?

It may be a mythโ€”but this little warrior certainly proved she has more than one.

Meet Dayhat (short for Dayhatin), a 0.5 kg kitten who overcame two life-threatening conditions last month.

Dayhat was first presented to our clinic as an emergency after sustaining a dog bite that resulted in evisceration, with her intestines exposed. Rock fragments and sand were already adhering to the intestines and omentum. Her owners bravely entrusted our team to proceed with emergency abdominal surgery. The surgical team meticulously removed all debris to minimize the risk of sepsis. By the following morning, Dayhat was already eating and playing, and she was discharged just two days later.

Multiple days after discharge, Dayhat was rushed back to the clinic in a collapsed state, experiencing respiratory distress and obvious pain. She tested positive for Feline Panleukopenia virus, a potentially fatal disease affecting both kittens and adult cats. Prompt treatment was initiated, including oxygen therapy and intravenous fluids. Within 30 minutes of aggressive supportive care, she showed remarkable improvement, returning to her active and playful self. Throughout the confinement period, she maintained a good appetite and remained vocal and responsive. She was discharged after two days.

Surely, this tiny cat is a mighty one. See you next week for your wellness check-up, Dayhat! ๐Ÿพ
