𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐆𝐀 𝐊𝐀𝐌𝐈!

Nakiisa ang laksa-laksang mga kabataan sa protesta ng mga tsuper at sambayanang Pilipino nitong Marso 20 bilang tugon sa krisis ng langis at pagkundena sa giyerang agresyon ng US-Israel sa Kanlurang Asya.

Nagmartsa sila mula Welcome Rotonda patungo Mendiola dala-dala ang mga panawagan laban sa dagdag buwis tulad ng EXCISE TAX at mga neoliberal na polisiya na siyang nagpapahintulot sa walang tigil na pagsirit ng presyo ng langis.

Dahil sa walang tigil na pambobomba ng US-Israel sa mga paaralan at komunidad ng Iran, nabibigyang katwiran ng mga kartel ng langis ang pagtaas ng presyo kahit pa old stock ang nilalabas nito sa kasalukuyan. Simula nung isabatas ang Oil Deregulation Law, naging malaya na ang mga korporasyon ng langis, tulad ng Petron, na magpataw ng 'di makatarungang tubo. Sa ilalim ng deregulasyon, walang kakayahan ang gobyerno na magtakda ng presyo. Dagdag pasanin pa rito ang EXCISE TAX at 12% Value-added Tax (VAT).

Sa pag-abot ng tatlong numero ng presyo ng krudo, tumaas rin ang presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin. Hirap na nga ang mga mamamayang bumabiyahe, ipinagkait pa ni Marcos ang 1 pisong fare hike bilang tugon sa hinaing ng mga tsuper. Habang nalulugi ang mga tsuper dahil 'di nakasasapat ang kanilang kinikita, nawawalan rin ng transportasyon ang kabataang estudyante papunta sa kani-kanilang paaralan at ang mga mamamayan papunta sa kanilang kabuhayan. Dito pa lang malinaw nang iisa lang ang laban ng mga tsuper at komyuter.

The youth are at a crossroads in history. Fifty-one years ago, the fascist dictator, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., declared Martial Law, effectively putting the country at a standstill as military men pillaged the countryside and set witchhunts on the people. Even before Martial Law, the studentry was at the forefront of the anti-dictatorship struggle, namely the Kabataang Makabayan, which shook Metro Manila through the First Quarter Storm

Today, we are faced with the same socioeconomic conditions that brought forth the anti-dictatorship struggle. Martial Law may not be declared but the tyranny of the state, through human rights violations, killings and disappearances, continue to persist. As long as the state relentlessly attacks the people with impunity, let there be no peace for Marcos and Duterte.

Tomorrow, we invite the youth across Manila's University Belt to continue the militant tradition of Kabataang Makabayan, to resist and fight against fascism like the youth of yesteryears! Let the madmen in Malacañang hear the calls for justice and the resistance of the masses of the studentry against their tyranny! Never again, Never forget! Down with the fascist US-Marcos-Duterte Regime!

Anakbayan University of the East - Manila on the additional ₱500 penalty charged to late enrollees.

[STATEMENT]
August 15, 2023.

"Lucio Tan bitter sa pang sampu lang sa pinakamayaman: Solusyon, dagdag 500 pesos charge for all late enrollees. Napakaraming estudyante ang late ng nakapag enroll dahil sa 9.5% TOFI. Tapos, may pasakit na dagdag bayarin na naman, UE!" Vice Chairperson Licon Dela Cruz emphasized.

Further, Dela Cruz expressed some of the complains that the red warriors are experiencing in the new building in the university opposing the statement of President Battad that the increase is intended for the improvement of school facilities, amongst others. "Ang kapal ng FEES magdagdag bayarin, faucet sa bagong CRs; bidet, wala! Napaka init din sa ibang mga rooms kasi hindi gumagana ‘yung aircon. Hindi rin ligtas 'yung mga windows at railings sa Lualhati Building. ‘

Dela Cruz stressed that the new policy is a testament of exploitation and contrary to the university's vision. "Nasaan na 'yung sinasabi niyong, "Your Future Starts in the East? Wala! A quality education is not a privilege, it is not a business, but a right. We demand our right to affordable education— we are not studying to be oppressed and exploited. This new policy is nothing but inhumane and anti-student!"
